Shots or drops is what the allergist recommends. The issue for me is that shots are an office visit.

This equals $35 per shot (25 for the visit, 10 for what insurance doesn't cover) per week for a long time.

I could get the drops which I do at home, but that is about $75 a month, because our insurance here doesn't cover drops.

My doctor happens to be one that believes drops are the best thing ever and only gives shots because that's all insurance will cover.

The good news is that a simple mild antihistamine that was proscribed to me does very well. Cost $5 a month. Maybe after the second child is born, I can do more. I know, it sounds weird saying that.

I moved to Ohio and was sick for about a year. My wife moved back to WI with me and now she has asthma and needs an inhailer every once and awhile.

I'm glad you and your son are feeling better and that you know what's up with you.

My wife was in your shoes about 12 years ago in Detroit. Allergic to everything that's green and grows, and cats (we had 2 at the time) and dogs. She saw an allergist and was getting shots regularly to build tolerance and now has little allergy problems. If you aren't' already, I'd see about getting the shots. I think she went twice weekly to start and they got farther apart as time went on.

Just moving to SA from Dallas caused my husband and me to develop allergies previously unknown. What I have heard is that when you move to a new local, you should start a regiman of adding a tsp of vinegar and a couple of tsp of locally gathered honey to a glass of water/cup of tea, etc. Supposedly, the honey desensitizes you to the local allergens and the vinegar, well I don't know why the vinegar (those homeopathis recipes just always seem to include vinegar)

My doctor back in Greenville said that she had patients who moved due to allergies that then became allergic to local flora in their new home. She had no idea why this happens. Ain't science grand!
