Teaching is one of the most noble of all positions. It is a great task, of that too few answer the call. I highly value your opinion, and respect you a great deal (just from what I have read of course). I would enjoy being taught by you. Of course as a Teacher, you are held to a higher standard, and that is the grand challange. I just think how incredible it is to have been placed in the position that you have been placed in. To lead the teaching effort in your Church is a supreme opportunity to lead. I say, make the most of it! Teach what you know is true. Teach the truth, regardless of how popular your teaching may or may not be. But I'm willing to bet, that most of the people that you teach, love God, and will respond to whatever the bible will say. I envy you. I am in a congregation that is not willing to learn anything new. THey just continue to reinforce what has already been taught, and that's it (God and me love 'em). There is not a willingness to consider that what they know may possibly be wrong. I think that a soft, contrite, and humble heart is what all of us should have. WHEN we think that we have all the answers, then that is when we are most dangerous. I think that it is only logical to consider that true, first century, new testament Christianity might not be recognizable, and that we need to be taught correctly. The difficulty that we face in our teaching, is that we can only teach scripture on the foundation of what we have already accepted as "the norm" or "goes without saying." Our paradigms have already been framed by 1800 years of tradition, influenced by sin and worldliness. I believe that in order to teach correctly, we must abandon the modern concepts brought to us through reformation, reform, and "restoration" movements. This is a more difficult task than one might imagine. But it must be accomplished! You are in a terrific position to explore and share what the Bible is truly saying, and you have a responsibilty to do so. May God bless you and may the SPirit lead you. (sorry about all the spelling and bad grammar)

I have felt the similar feelings - tired of fighting, tired of not being listened to, tired of not seeing things change, and yeah, just plain tired. But God is still God and he says "Do not grow weary in doing good." That is the thread I hold on to - God's hope for me, God's belief in us as a group of people, hope that the day will come when we get to heaven, if we can just get there! Hold on to the truth!

Boy, I can relate to these feelings, particularly the comment on just wanting to sleep. Teaching isn't my passion, but I can't tell you what is. Perhaps I need to think about that for a while.

I sometimes feel like I'm tired of fighting and I just want to shrink back into the shadows a little and just be a disciple for a while.

For what it's worth, that class sound's great (no pun intended.)
