I had to take the last days of vacation before the end of the year (Aug – Jul for employees). So, I am off today, tomorrow, and Friday. Saturday, we are going to a seminar about breastfeeding in Lincoln. Sunday is our quarterly service in Lincoln, but because it is outside and scheduled to be really hot, we are staying in town. Right now, we are going to Southwest, but that may change to a friend of my wife’s church.
So, no editing duties for me
, but I do have half a day to myself at home. This, of course, means writing time for most of it.
Quick Answer to a Question by Milly
So, Milly, the short answer to the question, “Why won’t you like the next Awakening?” is this: I won’t like it because I believe that instant Bible Knowledge will be a substitute for real Biblical insight. Scott has linked to Biblemap.orgon his site. This is a great tool that I think is a precursor to some of the Bible scholarship that is to come. Getting a sense of the distances involved between location can provide some insight, plus it helps visual learner form context around the Biblical story. However, knowing where Jesus’ miracles took place is not the same as understanding the significance of those miracles. (This is almost the same idea that appears in Phillip Yancey’s The Jesus I Never Knew)
What if you wanted to breastfeed in say Omaha?
Omaha is fine it take a seminar to learn how to do it in Lincoln it so much harder there for some odd reason. It’s easy in Oklahoma except that some women give you ugly looks and once I a while strange men will insist on sitting next to you even when there are plenty of seats else where. And you can’t in Victoria’s Secret. . . . nope it make no sense to any of us either apparently they are anti breast there.
We can. Went to all kinds of places in Omaha for the first child. Our second won’t latch, yet. So, we go to any and all seminars we can. This one happens to be a fundraiser for a statewide group.
My son didn’t care if he was nursed or bottle fed. I never was very successful and went back to work so it wasn’t much of an option until he had health problems. When my daughter was born I was firm on nursing her because I was sure she would have problems also. She wanted no part of a bottle ever. She does have some issues with her skin but not like my son.
Praying that the kido goes for it.
Yeah that was sort of a joke, Bear.
Yeah only Scott and I got it.
Sorry, I don’t get internet jokes.
Ummm we could kind of see that.
Anyone who finds lolcats funny need their humor bone checked.
