Mission Statement of the Omaha Church of Christ #
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." - Apostle Paul
“The glory of God is man fully alive.” - Irenaeus
If the glory of God is man fully alive, then for our church to glorify God, which is our reason for existence, then we must be fully alive!
Our mission is to develop spiritually healthy and alive disciples who are fully devoted to Jesus by balancing the following “Great Commandment” and “Great Commission” purposes for his body, the church.
-
Enthusiastic Worship: In view of God’s grace, every child of God loving him with all their heart as they daily offer themselves as living sacrifices pleasing to Him. (Rom. 12:1, Mt. 22:36-40, Eph. 5:1)
-
Safe and Loving Family: Every brother and sister feeling safe and giving their hearts in love, thus showing the world that we are disciples of Jesus. Our church family will only be as strong as the individual families, which we will strive to protect, prioritize, and train to be godly. (1 Sam. 22:23, 1 Tim. 3:15, Jhn 13:34-35, 1 Cor. 13:1-8, 1 Tim. 5:8, Prov. 22:6, Heb. 13:4)
-
Transformed Lives: Every disciple continually humbling themselves, growing, learning, and being strengthened by God, the Holy Spirit and one another as we are transformed into the likeness of Christ. (2 Cor. 3:18, 2 Pet. 1:5-9, Mt. 18:2-4, 1 Pet. 5:5-6, Mt. 28:20, 1 Tim. 3:16, 1 Cor. 9:24-27, 1 Thess. 5:11, 2 Cor. 13:10, Heb. 10:24-25)
-
Gift Driven Ministry: A culture of empowerment is created where every member is equipped to answer God’s call to use their gifts to make a visible difference in our church and community, local and global. (Eph. 4:11-16, 1 Cor. 12:12-31, Rom. 12:3-8, 1 Pet. 4:10)
-
Overflow Evangelism: Every star shining God’s light in this dark world in order to free the captives and bring them not only into eternal life, but also into the full life which Jesus brings. This evangelism overflows out of our gratitude for what Jesus has done for us. (Mt. 5:14, 28:19, Rom. 6:4-7, Jhn 10:10, Ps. 23:5, Lk. 6:45, 8:38-39, Acts 4:17-20)
-
Loving the Needy: Every Christian striving to care like Christ by devoting themselves to meeting the needs of those who cannot help themselves: the poor, sick, elderly, orphaned, imprisoned, etc; thus practicing true religion. (Mt. 9:35-36, 26:31-46, Prov. 14:31, 19:17, 31:20, James 1:27, Gal. 2:10)
As an alive and healthy body grows and multiplies, we therefore believe that as we develop spiritually alive and healthy disciples of Jesus, God will grow and multiply the Omaha Church of Christ to His glory.
