Turns out that the church I attend has a new minister. He’ll be here soon – he should finish his PhD by August. His wife is finishing her degree as well, so full-time work should start in August. He says that he doesn’t want to move again. I hope that is right. I’ve had a Big Name(TM) make that promise before and it lasted 11 years. I can deal with about 10 years keeping in mind that no one can really know if they have to move or not. I just hope the circumstances are different.

So, yes, I’m happy about it. I look forward to seeing him next week.

Who’d have guessed!?!?! Omaha over San Diego. Well, hopefully this will be a good move for everyone.

I think so. He didn’t cost us much more than our previous minister.

We hired only him, no children or spouse to be insured (she is going to work a secular job), no separate office, etc.

The concerns I raised were ‘how much he travels’ and ‘what happened at his last job’. Both of those have been answered to my satisfaction. I look at it this way:

Even if he is here for only two years, it will be two years with a good minister. Considering that non-ICC ministers were barely considered, it was better to hire someone with an actual degree and helped do some things at ACU rather than hire someone that no one wanted. It’s like the church situation, I’m not looking for a perfect minister, just one with a set of problem I can deal with. I personally wish we would have brought Mark out here, but I can live with that.

Good – I’m glad you can be happy with the outcome. I think Gregg wants something different in some respects. Maybe in a less ’showy’ environment he will take the opportunity to actually do some of the things discussed in Abilene.
