My wife is expecting with our second child.

I abhor secrets and I am terrible at keeping them. Sitting on this for weeks has been well-nigh difficult. I think everyone knows anyway, but just in case we’re going to tell everyone Sunday. I’m telling my family in a few hours later today, so if you know them, please wait a few minutes more.

In any case, this one was planned (not that I love our son less because he wasn’t) although we were only trying for two weeks when she got pregnant.

This, of course, means that our son will have a sibling only about 17 months younger then him. Unlike Archie Manning, I’ll only have to wait *one* year for our second son to be drafted by the NFL.

But I’m ahead of myself. I’m talking about our second child, not our retirement plan.

We won’t know the gender until birth. I’ll be happy no matter what, but I hope for a girl.

    Congratulations!!!!

(fwiw - I know what it’s like to be the ‘unplanned’ one. I think my birth was the result of a Christmas party! my mom was 8 mos pregnant with me at my sister’s Aug wedding!!!)

    Congrats!

My aunt was an oops. My Mom is the middle of the 3. Her brother was 8 when she was born, she was 16 when my aunt was born. 24 years between 3 kids. Yeah, having a baby in the late 50’s when you’re 42 was a little unusual. My great aunt was shocked. She said to my mom (remember, Mom’s 16) and said “Well … well … they must have had secks!” LOL.

To top it off, my Mom’s sister in law was pregnant with grandchild #1 at the same time. Grandma’s baby came first, so he has a younger aunt, by a month or two. Mom’s sister in law was quite put out that her mother in law was pregnant at the same time she was, stealing all the attention.

Congratulations! Children are a great delight and a great responsibility. But you already know that. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. (Psalm 127:5Open Link in New Window)

Congrat’s Mr. Kidion! Girls are nice! Also, moms are always dreamin’ of growing up and dressing their real babies like little dolls. Shant I pray?

    Absolutely pray!

In addition to the other reasons, this pregnancy is really difficult. She cannot travel, bleeding, etc. We had to cancel our family trip home for Thanksgiving.

    Congratulations, ya big moog!!

That’s fantastic news, and it really helps temper an otherwise mediocre Monday. I didn’t win the lottery over the weekend. I really thought I was gonna this time. Kidding…

Anyway, I’m so happy for you guys. I am sorry to hear you can’t make it home for the holidays, though.

    Much love!

Vitamin D is also very important. See This PDF on page 7 for a discussion of vit D and pregnancy.

I’ll be praying for you guys! Some wise advice I was given about my own unexpected and difficult pregnancy: God would not have allowed you to conceive this child and not take care of him (or her!).
