As for those who continue to oppose us, they are lost– not because their baptism became invalid, but the Scriptures are clear that those who oppose and grumble against God’s leaders and divide God’s church are, in fact, opposing God (Exodus 16:8; Numbers 16). Thus, the rebellious become lost because they do not have a true faith.
a) 2005 – Critics by Thomas McKean
b) 2002 – Revolution through Restoration III – From Babylon to Zion by Thomas McKean
c) 1994 – Revolution through restoration II – The 20th Century Church by Thomas McKean
d) 1988 – Denver reconstruction by Thomas McKean
For those of you that correctly guessed c), here are the other quotes that make this question a real toughy.
From the Denver Reconstruction in 1988:
…I believe with all my heart a few years ago the Lord put that plan upon my heart. And you cannot have qualms about me. I am not perfect; I am a sinner. Hey, you can talk to Preston, you can talk to Marty. I am not perfect. But you cannot have any bad attitude toward me personally or toward the Boston church. I say that in the Lord….
From Revolution through Restoration 3:
According to the Scriptures, to grumble and be bitter toward leadership is to grumble against God. (Exodus 16:8) Numbers 16 and 1 Corinthians 10:6-10 show that immorality and grumbling were considered two of the greatest abominations to God.
And finally, Critics in 2005:
Critics are everywhere – outside God’s kingdom and, most hurtful, inside the Lord’s church! Recently, the persecution at Portland State University caused the falling away of a dear brother which produced doubt among some who stayed faithful to Christ. The persecution vehicle of Satan was the voluminous writings on the internet of fall aways, ex-members and non-Christians.
For the record, in Luke 4 when Jesus was almost killed, it was for pointing out the hyprocisy of the Jews. Jesus pointed out that God worked in the lives of Gentiles, even though the Jews were the chosen people of God. In fact, during times of great calamity, God chose to only help one Gentile and not any of his chosen people of Israel.
