Exhaustion

To someone I know in Portland:

I have read on your website that you are feeling tired.

I wanted to give you some advice that I received many years ago from someone you trained.

The Bible is clear that the Lord will not give you more than you can handle and he will give you a way to endure it. (1 Co 10:12-13) Frankly, I think you are just making excuses. I mean, you’ve done a lot, and that’s true, but we’re talking about people’s souls here. I can’t believe you’d work for God and them complain that he’s asking you to do too much. Maybe you need to pray for more faith.

Of course, you can just change what you believe – the city is full of churches with lukewarm or cold disciples that want to hear a more convienient gospel than the Bible. They’d probably think you’re the most fired up guy in the group and that is pathetic.

Take about five minutes to pray and then get going. Many people are dying on campus while you sit here and complain about being tired. I love you, but that’s the truth. I wouldn’t tell you if it wasn’t true.

Call me if you need anything.
