There are actually bookees taking bets on the next pope. However, they placed no bets on Sunday in order to pay their respects.

Personally, I didn’t see eye to eye with John Paul II on a few things (especially the elevation of Mary and birth control), but he should be given credit as someone that helped start the Solidarity movement in Poland and as someone that helped to overthrow communism. For that reason, no commentaries on Catholic dogma, just a note of his passing.
