Thank you for the Prayers

They are working.

I know that I get upset about things going on outisde my church because I believe that these things can affect us. However, there I times when I let God provides me the encouragement to look locally and not globally.

My wife and I were having a difficult weekend. My plans for our date on Saturday did not go well, but overall, there was a tremendous communication breakdown. Go figure, we’re both writers and we have trouble communicating. 🙂

By Sunday morning, we will still trying to work things out. Because we had missed last week, I was eager to be in service, so I made a bad decision to table the discussion until after service. The good that came out of it, though, was that a deacon couple was there to help us out on the spot when things got more difficult. This couple heads up the Children’s Ministry and they are usually running around with lots of things to do on Sunday during Communion. Instead of trying to pass us off or talk about their lack of time, they stopped everything and helped us work it through.

My wife was quite upset. The first thing that happened when the deaconess saw my wife was that they hugged. She immediately offered to help us. That help got us through the weekend and set the tone for a great time Sunday night.

Later in the afternoon yesterday, we visited some friends and talked about our new small group. They were excited to have us in the group. We were able to encourage and help each other and it was wonderful.

The sermon was an exposition of John 6 focused on who Jesus’s claims about himself. Unfortunately, the computer crashed, so it is lost. However, after over a decade of hearing weird sermons about evangelism, this one about the Gospel was heartwarming. The message is not prosperity, save the world in one generation, look at my church, look at me, etc. The message was Jesus, himself. More on the sermon later.

I know that everyday will not be a perfect day. I know that I should not get my happiness from circumstances, but rely on God for real joy. I just wanted to share that sometimes God gives me encouragement and reason for the hope that I have in my local church.
