RC Sproul is great to hear on the radio. I do not always agree, but it is thought-provoking and I almost always consider it a good use of my time. I must confess, though, that the radio format for the station here plays one sermon in five sections, so it takes a week to finish. There was a time when people sat through 2 hour sermons excitedly. Maybe I am a part of the wrong generation, untimely born too late. I hope to post some things from there in the future.
I also enjoy Ravi Zacharias at times. I read “Let My People Think” occasionally. I don’t tune in a lot, though, because sometimes I believe he splits hairs. It’s not unlike other teachers I have heard and respected. It’s also a habit that I conscientiously attempt to break in myself at every opportunity. Why? Splitting hairs ultimately comes from a black-and-white mentality. Something is wrong OR it is right AND there is NO exception. Kind of makes Romans 14 sound like Open Theism by comparison.
Allastair Begg is also good. Wade Hodges wrote a great series on the Emerging Church of Christ. I have issues with the Church of the English Majors (emerging church), but it is always interesting and helpful.
Lest you think I forgot something, I also enjoy other sermons. Thanks to salguod, I heard a great sermon from someone within my own church history.
Not to harp on this, but it is amazing what you are able to do when you do not watch television. (Except football, an hour of the history channel, and the occasional Who’s Line Is It Anyway episode with the spouse.) It works out to be between 3 and 5 hours a week.
Anyway, thanks again and keep them coming. I’m still looking for others in my own denomination as well, just not the typical names, though. At this point, I believe the typical names are akin to the Republican leaders in Washington and former Rep M. Foley. They knew this guy was crossing the line between one and five years ago, and they left him on the committee for abused and endagnered children. Things changed only when someone got caught. Same with us. (I was a part of it, too. I’m not innocent in this matter.)
Thanks again. I am grateful for all the suggestions thus far.
