About (old site)
Pinakidion.* is a repository of all the things that interest me. In a style similar to Slashdot, there are several different subdomains, each one focused on one specific interest. All the posts from the other sites feed into this one, so that you do not have to visit all the different sites (or subscribe to all the RSS Feeds) to get updates. This network of sites serves as a sort of writing tablet for my thoughts. The internet is pretty easy to access these days, so jotting down ideas on a particular website is straightforward.
Before describing the various other websites, I should let you know a few things up front.
- I don’t apologize for intentional posts. I will discuss the content and even revise the content. I will apologize to any person involved and make amends as I see fit. But I won’t apologize for posting in the first place.
- I discuss things and folks find me pretty amenable. I don’t delete comments I don’t like. I won’t even delete a comment where I am called derogatory names. The website has a profanity filter, so a nasty comment may look odd, but it’s not me editing the comment.
- I believe in some things very strongly. This doesn’t mean that I am not willing to learn from anyone. Please do not mistake my sometimes strong presentation as an unwillingness to discuss anything. Anything at all.
From left to right, beneath the header, the sites feeding here are:
Dira - The world of Dira is a role-playing fantasy setting loosely based on the Roman Empire. Lenga, a different setting is based on this world 500 years after the events in Dira.
D/I - The dev/irregulars site is for news that matters to Geeks. Feel free to comment or post, it’s under construction but has fun things.
Sycarion - Sycarion Diversions is home to anything games. This can be card games or board games, but especially focuses on role-playing games. A major project ongoing there is Lenga, a generic fantasy setting for the Action!-System rules.
My Family - A site for my wife and I to write about family, write poetry, or say just about anything.
Computer Biz - My associate(mrtool) and I have done some computer work and used this name. Our original concept was to manufacture a self-repairing workstation for use in rental properties that offer internet service. This has changed to a site holding data for Omaha Linux, a derivative of Absolute Linux. The content doesn’t change much, but the Slackware compatible packages created appear on the Absolute forums.
Study Hall - This site was created for a friend and I to study the Bible together. Emails became more useful. However, I intend to publish a few expositions of various books of the Bible there.
Prairiecomber - The Prairie Comber will hold my writing efforts including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. For now, a lot of the material is very old (and it shows!). As I get more serious about writing, it will contain more stories and poems.
For My Son - This site hold information about parenting hard of hearing children. As we are sorting through the wealth of information we have, I hope to post it here.
