but it sure was not the Fourth of July…
My wife and I wanted to get away from the boxes, the trash, the window unit A/C, and all the responisbilities for a while. She asked me to take her out of town a short distance. I figured that we just needed some us time as well that wasn’t about the baby, the house, unpacking, various first-year dramas, finances, and the like. Being almost 8 months, I knew we couldn’t go too far, so I came up with the perfect place…
I have always loved Chick-Fil-A(R) snadwiches. What does this have to do with the road trip? Plenty. You see, my fair city does not have a public Chick-Fil-A(R). I’m afraid a rather large company has put one in their cafeteria, but only employees and their guests can eat there. Consulting the wesbite, I found the closest store to my fair city. Regular readers will note that I wrote about this quest – the last road trip I made as a single man.
In any case, I looked up things to do there. I understood that this city had parks on the Missouri River, something I wish we had here. So, I decided that we’d do a museum, eat lunch, then stroll about the river and just talk. Except for lunch being dinner, that’s just what we did. It was good to have our own time to just talk and enjoy each other. It reminded both of us of why we fell in love in the first place.
I’ll be posting about other things soon, just wanted to relay a time of joy and peace.
